- Nachmanides (RaMBaN) (not to be confused with RaMBaM)
- Also known as RaMbaN, after the acronym of his Hebrew name: Rabbi Mosheh Ben Nachman. Nachmanides was born in Gerona, Spain in 1194. He is perhaps best known for his two major commentaries - his commentary on the Chumash, which both interprets the verses and discusses the topic in a broader religious context, and a commentary on the Talmud. His commentary on the Torah incorporates mystical and ethical as well as grammatical kinds of interpretation.
